It's been a while

Well, I had hard times at work for a few months, but it's finally over. And I spilled beer over my notebook and almost half of the keys on my keybord broke down, so I had to buy a new one. I still can't find some of my reseach data.. 

I have some pictures, wich were waiting for 3 months to be put here.  Among them a girdle purse inspired by the dutch findings. It's far from being perfect,  but still I like it. And you can spot the shadow of my boyfriend taking pictures :)

 

linen towels

I finally managed to make pictures of my linen cloth :)

The stripes are produced by blue warp threads. The pieces need to be hemmed on the edges.

My Paternoster Project finished

My paternoster was on holiday and done some sightseeing :)

The sun is shining here, but it's pretty cool at my workplace , so I feel like sitting in a fridge.

I remodelled my friend's dress lately and she gave me some linen cloth with stripes on the edges The cloth was bought by her grandmother in the 70's. but stayed untouched. It was used in Poland for making kitchen towels. I should use it to make a few towels or maybe a small pillow.

I had to make something for Nina to take to the trading fair in Pontoise/France, so I quickly made some laces and two frame purses

everyone is busy lately...

I've got lot of work, including my regular work, research for my MA thesis, finishing comissions and my own accessories.

I'm going to weave a girdle matching a wedding burgundian gown. I'm quite nervous about the results...

The beads for my paternoster arrived, and I'm going to finish it at least! My tassels look like that one

frame purse

Hello!

Last time o wrote about finishing a frame purse as a commision.
It's ready. The frame is made by Nina. The fabrics are black wool and dark green silk. I made turk's knots from black goatskin. The woolen lace has brass points.














And another purse, a leather one. I only made the chain seam, and attached the brass bars (once again by Nina). The whole purse is made by my boyfriend.














I ordrered glass beads for my Arnolfini paternoster project. I can't wait!
And I already begun to make green silken tassels.

Arnolfini paternoster project p.1

My first project on this blog is going to be a "Anrolfini paternoster project".

The patrenoster on the van Eyck's painting:

I'm going to use 13 mm venice glass tansparent white beads. Or maybe I should choose some honey-coloured or lihgt pink ones? I think crystal would be more expensive in 15th c., and glass is a good alternative material.

I already have green silk thread (by Gutterman, the only I could find here in Poland and be sure they're from natural silk), and silk floss for the tassels (from Italy).

Maybe it's not a big challenge, but I was planning to make a paternoster for 3 or 4 years, and it never happened. So now it is time!

And I'm currently working on a commission - a woolen frame purse lined with silk.

Chcę zrobić paternoster z obrazu van Eycka. Myślę, że powinien byc ze szkła (kryształ byłby za drogi w XV w.). Mam już zielone jedwabne nici (od Guttermana, nie znalazłam w Polsce innych, co do których byłabym pewna, że są z naturalnego jedwabiu) i mulinę na frędzle(włoską).

Od dawna chciałam zrobić paternoster, ale jakoś nigdy nie wyszło. Więc najwyzszy czas.

Obecnie pracuję też nad zamówieniem - wełnianą torebką na ramce podszytą jedwabiem.

Hello there!

I'm a member of a gorup of craftsmen gathered as www.jazwiec.pl (by our leader, Nina).
My field is working with textiles. I really enjoy making laces, weaving all sort of bands, making all kinds of purses (textile and leather) and other medieval artifacts.
I would like to share my experience and new projects with a wider auditorium.

Jestem członkiem grupy rzemieślniczej www.jazwiec.pl (pod przewodnictwem Niny). Moja działka to praca z tekstyliami. Uwielbiam robienie sznureczków, różnego rodzaju tasiemek, szycie torebek (z materiału i skóry) i innych średniowiecznych artefaktów.
Chciałabym podzielić się doświadczeniem i nowymi projektami z szerszym gronem odbiorców :)
